Zenalogy
Zenalogy is a portfolio of analogue photography done with vintage cameras. Intrigued by the often unpredictable outcomes of the analogue photographic process, I decided to play with old cameras and various films to capture the atmosphere of landscapes and the essence of animals, people, and their relationships. I am particularly interested in photographing horses and children in natural settings.
Unlike digital, analogue photography is a long-term process, requiring both time for reflection before pressing the shutter button and patience when waiting for the outcomes of a session.
Working with film cameras provides a meditative state of focus and calm, inspiring the name of this portfolio.
I believe imperfection is a valuable part of the creative process, so I often welcome some flawed photos as a lesson learned. Currently, I only use vintage cameras: Zenith, Reflekta II, and Leica IIIc (Barnack rangefinder). My photos are done on both 35 mm and 120 mm films (Ilford, Kodak, and Fujifilm).
